I know that most of us have already pre-ordered and been charged for the downloadable version of Rebellion, but are we going to be able to upgrade to a boxed version? I would reeeeeeeeeeeeeally like to have one.
I'm reading this as a boxed edition sold directly from Stardock, BUT won't be available retail.
I sure hope that you are right, wbino. I am fine with losing the trip to the store to purchase Rebellion, that's not really something I enjoy. But what I do enjoy is having a nice, high quality collector's edition with some cool stuff (a soundtrack CD or two if there is that much music and a spaceship sculpture are some good ideas) and a manual and a box and a disk. That is all I ask.
I would rather have a pewter Vulkoras Desolator.
I would love to have a pewter Progenitor class Mothership. It's just so iconic!
A pewter Orkulus class Starbase would also be nice though...
It would be a boxed version of the game, but only available directly from Stardock (not at retail). Assuming we move forward on it, you can upgrade to it for an additional fee from your existing Rebellion digital purchase, or buy it as part of a new Rebellion pre-order.
I can tell you it won't have a pewter model in it. Far too small...think bigger.
PLUSHIE!!!?!?!?!?!!
I WANT A KOL PLUSHIE!!!!!!!!
Wow!!!! A Titan windsock.....
How big. So confusing. If I pay 100$ for the collector's edition will I get a fully working titan, full size?
<Looking up to see if Titan Foundry exists>
Probably not.
Maybe a TEC falg?
Hey we can dream together, can't we?
EDIT: Also, will said titan include a crew?
" Assuming we move forward on it"?
There is no doubt, Stardock. It is your destiny to create an awesome collector's edition for Sins Rebellion. You shall do this. I will quote Yoda, "There is no try. There is only do."
This is what you must do, Stardock. Make that boxed collector's edition and make it good. And do not forget about the soundtrack CDs! I don't know if anyone else thinks that the music of Sins is great stuff, but I sure do. I bought the Game of the Year edition just to get my hands on one of these CDs, even though I already had a copy of the game. I would really love it of I could play the entire Sins soundtrack, from the original Sins to Entrenchment and Rebellion additions. Even if this takes up two CDs, I would pay more to get the full soundtrack for my listening pleasure.
I am very happy to know for sure that there will be a boxed version of Sins Rebellion, a collector's edition, even. I have been faithfully following this game since its announcement and am really excited for this collector's edition. The only reason that I have not pre-ordered this game is because it is digital download only.
As far as the "bigger than a pewter model" thing, I think that a Kol plushy and a working titan ship, maybe with lights that blink on and off or just stay on like and awesome lamp are both cool ideas, the working titan a bit more fitting for Sins of a Solar Empire.
I am really excited for this collector's edition and I seriously hope that they release it. I will buy it.
P. S. What does this post on the page before this by ImperatorPavel even mean?
SOUNDTRACK HELLLS YEEEEE
Think bigger? Hmmm..............
Maybe a tech tree poster, behind the scenes blu-ray, soundtrack, exclusive DLC, a metallic figurine of 1 of the Titans, and artbooks?
I can predict this might come up to the same size as my Skyrim collector's edition
Does anybody really want a tech tree poster?
I got one when I bought my Game of the Year edition and had to wonder who decided that this is what gamers want. In my opinion, putting a tech tree poster up on your wall is way to geeky and just looks plain dumb. No disrespect to the tech tree, I think that they are great in the game, just I do not think that they are a thing of beauty. I would much rather have that picture of the Ragnarov titan with the Rebellion logo in the corner. Orange and awesome. Now that would be a Sins poster I would put up on my wall.
I also think that the "making of" Blu-Ray disc idea is dumb not only because I don't know anybody who would actually want to see the developers working on balance and what-not (Not my idea of entertaining), a Blu-Ray disc would also be unnecessary because I don't think that there would be anything on the video that would be more awesome in higher definition. Some things just don't benefit very much from Blu-Ray.
Still, behind the scenes discs are becoming quite popular. I got one with my Spore collector's edition, one with my Fallout 3 collector's edition, one with my Fallout New Vegas collector's edition, and I decided I didn't need the one for the Skyrim collector's edition because all I really wanted was the map and not the plastic statue and the 200 page art book. So I just pre-ordered the regular game and got my map and now I feel bad and wish that I had gotten the collector's edition. So I guess people do care about these things, so I am fine with Stardock throwing one in.
I would also prefer that the model of the titan be in its faction colors instead of just metallic. I know that this would cost more, but I would gladly pay extra to get the colored version instead of the metallic. This is just my personal opinion, though, I don't know if this is the way most people feel.
I would love an art book, especially if it was hard cover and maybe had some interviews with the concept artists in it, maybe separating different chapters or at the front or back.
Exclusive DLC is, in my opinion, not really needed because it might screw up the delicate balance in a massive game like Sins of a Solar Empire. However, if it is just something harmless like extra music (that would actually be really awesome) or picture sets or maybe a different main menu (it is really in need of a major update) I would be fine with it, maybe even like it.
I would really like a Rebellion boxed collector's edition as big as the Skyrim collector's edition. I would not make the same mistake twice of not buying the collector's edition for the best game in its genre (Skyrim - RPG, Sins Rebellion - strategy). I would snap this up as soon as it was put on sale. And don't forget about the soundtrack CDs!
So do we get a solid gold model of a ship?
